Most organisations are not resisting AI governance. They are stuck at a more basic point: they do not know how far away they are. That uncertainty is genuinely paralysing. You cannot resource a programme you cannot size. You cannot brief a board on a gap you have not measured. So the decision defers, and deferring feels safer than committing to a number you might be wrong about. The assessment exists to remove that specific obstacle.
What happens in the forty-five minutes
It is a structured conversation, not a sales call, led by someone who assesses these systems for a living:
- Estate — what AI is in use, sanctioned and otherwise, and how confident you are in that picture
- Applicability — which obligations actually apply to you given your sectors, jurisdictions, and use cases. This alone frequently changes people's plans, in both directions.
- Current state — what governance exists today, including things you already have that count and may not have realised do
- Gap and effort — the honest distance to a defensible position, with a realistic sense of scale
- Sequence — what to do first, and what can safely wait
Why we run it free
Two honest reasons. First, it is the most efficient qualification either of us will get — forty-five minutes tells us whether we can genuinely help and tells you whether we know what we are talking about. Second, a meaningful proportion of the organisations we assess do not need us, at least not yet. Sometimes the right answer is a scoping exercise they can run internally. Saying so costs us an engagement and earns a relationship, and in this market that trade has been consistently worth making.
