Governed by Design: Why We Run Our Own Products Under Our Own AIMS
The strongest evidence that a governance methodology works is that the people selling it operate under it.
Consulting advice about governance has a credibility problem, and it is a fair one: the advice is rarely tested on the adviser.
Every product in our suite operates under gnaan.ai's own ISO/IEC 42001 AI Management System. Same inventory, same impact assessments, same incident process, same internal audit cycle we recommend to clients. It is the least flattering possible test of the methodology, which is exactly why it is the useful one.
What running it ourselves taught us
- Impact assessments get skipped under delivery pressure unless they gate a release
- Model change logs are worthless without a linked rationale field
- Internal audit finds more when the auditor did not help design the control
- The inventory decays within a quarter unless someone owns keeping it current
It also changes the commercial conversation. Small and mid-sized organisations are routinely priced out of enterprise governance suites; running our own AIMS is what lets us offer governed tooling at a price that does not assume an enterprise budget.
